Bio- Chemic Medicine
The body is made of Cells. Different kind of cells builds different tissue and organs. The difference in cells is mainly due to difference in cellular constitutions where inorganic salts play an important role. In 1873 W. H. Schussler identified 12 such salts and any change in quantitative relations disturbs normal cell function and causes disease. These are remedied by the appropriate bio- chemic or bio-combination.

Diabetes: Causes, Symptom, Treatment

A wasting disease, of which the prominent symptoms are thirst and dryness of mouth, with passage of large quantities of urine containing sugar.
It is a chronic disease, and may go on for years without affecting the general health to any great extent; but diabetics should be careful, as the disease is liable to take a dangerous turn.
The older a patient is before the disease sets in the less dangerous it is.

1. Diabetes Mellitus
2. Diabetes Insipidus

Small Description of Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetes Insipidus:

Diabetes mellitus:
Diabetes mellitus is a sugar disease-which is resulted from relative lack of the hormone "Insulin" in the body. In this disease there is high level of sugar in the blood due to less production of insulin. Because insulin reduces the level of sugar in the blood.

In simple cases of diabetes, there is excessive thirst frequent thirst, much appetite, general weakness, debility, skin diseases, and presence of sugar in urine - which can be tested under the normal urine test. In some cases, more ants are seen gathering around the urine spot on the ground - as ants are attracted by the sugar contents present in urine.

Diabetes Insipidus:
A disease (may be congenital or following injury or infection) of the posterior pituitary gland or its adnexa -(adjoining parts) .In other words diabetes insipidus is a disease that results from the deficiency of the pituitary hormone -"Vasopressin". In diabetes insipidus, the function of the pituitary gland is disturbed - (due to some infection or injury) and as such there is deficiency of pituitary hormone -Vasopressin. If it increases, then it diminishes the flow of urine and raises the blood pressure. And if it decreases then the flow of urine is increased and blood, pressure is lowered.

Diabetes insipidus causes dehydration excessive urination, thirst, weakness and debility but no sugar is present in the urine. Diabetes insipidus is sometimes inherited through females and appears in male. In such cases, the pituitary gland as said above, does not Produce enough antidiuretic hormone and there is polyuria or frequent excessive thirst -such persons are known as water drinkers during their trouble of diabetes insipidus.

Treatment of Diabetes:

Lac Defloratum
I have been making experiments with skimmed milk and I believe it to be a very valuable remedy largely in the treatment of Diabetes.

Lactic Acid
One of the principal remedies in Diabetes Mellitus. As a remedy in Diabetes, I have used it with great benefit.
There are pronounced Anaemia, nausea after eating, canker sores in the mouth, salivation and polyuria.

Phosphoric Acid
It is also one of the principal remedies and the symptoms which will lead it to it, are :
Frequent and profuse urination, requiring the patient to rise often at night. The urine is often milky in appearance. sometimes it deposits jelly-like masses.
It should be remembered in Diabetes Mellitus, when it has been preceded or is accompanied by disease of the pancreas.

Picric Acid
The urine has an abnormally high specific gravity and contains sugar; it is also albuminous.

Farrington's Therapeutic Pointers

Homeopathy Treatment for Arthritis

Small introduction of Arthritis:

Arthritis actually means inflammation or swelling of a joint, accompanied by pain. But nowadays it used by laymen as a general term for any disease of the joint. Arthritis is a symptom of a disease and not a disease by itself.

Causes of Arthritis:

The cause of arthritis is largely non specific. But various factors like heredity, obesity, injury and stress may play a part. The two most common causes are Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis.

Some other cause can be:

-Infections from different bacteria
-Rheumatic fever.
-Tuberculosis, psoriasis and even intestinal diseases like Crohns.
-Vitamin D Difficiancy
-Blood urea (increase)
-Uric acid in urine Test (increase).

-A general feeling of stiffness and restricted movements especially. In the morning.
-Red shiny skin over the joints.
-Deformity of joint later on
-Sometimes there may be numbness, loss of appetite, low grade fever and a general sense of being unwell.

Suggestion and Management:

-A whole food, largely vegetarian diet with plenty of salads, fruits and lightly cooked vegetables is recommended. Cut out foods such as dairy products, which can cause allergy. Avoid red meat but fish or chicken in moderate amounts will do no harm.

-Avoid unpasteurized milk and use goat's milk if possible. Avoid acid fruits such as lemons and strawberries, tomatoes, salt, sugar (use honey), tea, coffee and alcohol. Take vitamin A, C, E and zinc supplements.

-Maintain optimum weight for your height and built. Exercise regularly, but avoid vigorous and heavy work. Yoga can be very helpful.

-On waking do not rush into your routine, but start gradually and slowly.

In case of acute inflammation

-Take rest till inflammation subsides.
-Local heat or infrared is helpful to alleviate the pain.
-Avoid full activity or stretching of the joints.
-Always consult the doctor for any medication.

Homeopathic Treatment for Arthritis:

This is the great old school remedy for gout; every case gets it in some form; and, strange to say, in the homoeopathic school it is one of the first remedies thought of, but not every case of arthritic trouble receives Colchicum from the careful homoeopathic prescriber. The typical case calling for Colchicum is where the swelling is red or pale, with extreme tenderness to touch, a tendency to shift about from joint to joint, and pains which are worse on the slightest motion. If the general symptoms of great prostration of the muscular system and abdominal bloating be present Colchicum is the remedy. Gastric symptoms and cardiac complications also characterize. It is more indicated when the smaller joints, fingers, toes, wrists and ankles are affected; the pains are very violent, patient cannot bear to have the parts touched or to have anyone come near him. Arnica has this fear that the part my be hit by anyone passing; it has also arthritic pains in the foot, worse towards evening; and a red big toe joint which feels as though it has been sprained, so Arnica may be indicated well in gout. The Colchicum patient is apt to be exceedingly irritable and the gout is not apt to decrease this irritability. Unless Colchicum is given according to these indications it will do no permanent good. The habit of giving Colchicum to every case of gout in order to palliate the trouble may cause it to attack the heart or fly to other parts. Indeed in potency it is Homoeopathic to gout, with metastasis to the heart. Aconite is most useful in acute attacks of gout in the joints of the feet. It corresponds only to the onset and if continued for a day or two will cure many cases.

Ledum is a useful remedy in gout as well as in many articular troubles. We have the symptoms that the ball of the great toe is swollen, sore and painful on stepping, drawing pains worse from warmth, pressure and from motion. It has also gouty nodosities in the joints, it differs from Bryonia in having a scanty instead of a profuse effusion; it is, perhaps, better adapted to hot swelling of the hip joint than is Bryonia. All the pains of Ledum travel upwards. Ledum is also useful after abuse of Colchicum. It may be the first remedy to use when the patient comes from allopathic hands, having been dosed with large doses of Colchicum, which is a very asthenic remedy, producing great muscular weakness, as we have seen. Ledum, it must be remembered is a cold remedy, and attending all the symptoms is a general chilliness and lack of animal heat. Another drug having gouty nodosities in the joints is Guaiacum. This remedy has tearing pains in the extremities and contractions; of the muscles. It is also especially useful for gouty inflammation affecting the knee joint.
Ammonium phosphoricum:

This is a useful remedy in constitutional gout where there are nodosities in the joints. It is not so much a remedy for the acute symptoms, but for chronic cases where there are deposits of urate of soda concretions in the joints and the hands become twisted out of shape. Antimonium crudum has gouty nodes in the joints, but it is easily selected from its gastric symptoms. Urinary symptoms, strong urine, etc., would suggest Benzoic acid, and much red Lycopodium, both; of which may be found useful in gout. Staphisagria has a similar application to gout when it becomes systematized, as has also Ammonium phosphoricum. Rhododendron has enlargements of the joints not due to gouty deposits, worse during rest and on approach of a storm. Urtica urens. This remedy is said to cure more cases of gout than any other. Under its use pain and swelling subside and large quantities of sand are passed. Picric acid. Halbert mentions this remedy as useful in arthritis deformans, and thinks that treating the disease from the homoeopathic standpoint will yield best results.
